We got dressed and went for a drive north to Fort Myers. We went to Manatee Park which was a lot of unexpected fun. The kids were excited to see crabs, little fish, big fish and even fish jumping out of the water. As we walked down the nature path we got to a round bay area and there were 20 manatees just hanging out, some babies too! They are really huge, I really had no idea, it was impressive to see.
The kids found a playground nearby the nature trail and burned off some of their endless amounts of energy while I basked in the much needed sun!
It was way past lunchtime so we went to a chain restaurant, Iguana Mia to have a quick lunch! The kids were getting very restless since they'd gone to bed way later than usual. So after lunch we wanted to explore more but decided to head back to the condo. The kids rested and so did we, then Brian gave Braden a drawing lesson, they created skeleton pictures! I am very impressed at his quick learning, just the other day I taught him to draw a cat and he drew an awesome picture of Reilly. His drawing has been matted (on cardboard) and he taped it next to Reilly's cat flap that he uses to go down the basement. He told me Reilly needed a sign by his "front door."
After rest time the kids wanted to swim. We definitely missed our window of opportunity to swim. The day started off at 55 and got to the mid 70s but by the time we got to the pool it was 6pm, no sun and not warm. But we all jumped in and had a chilly 25 minute swim! To the Floridians passing by they probably thought we were doing a polar bear dip!
Tomorrow we might go to the zoo but we will definitely be back for a warm swim in the afternoon when its above 70 and sun is beating down on us.
