This year he had said he wanted it at Chuck E. Cheese and then Jungle Java but with a June birthday I thought it'd be better we go for an outdoor party at our house. We got him a DSiXL for his birthday and we had just put up the new trampoline so it seemed like we'd spent enough and would be better to host the party ourselves.
Braden asked for a skateboard theme so the e-vites were a skateboarder and the boys favors were finger skateboards with interchangeable colored wheels.
We invited his entire preschool class as well as friends and neighbors that he plays with a lot. We ordered a lot of pizza and I made a large skateboard cake, not quite the size of a real skateboard but pretty close!!
Thunderstorms were in the forecast but I setup an outdoor party anyways and it never did storm, however, it was easily 85 degrees and 100% humidity! The kids jumped in the bouncer and the trampoline. The boys had a lot of fun with the water guns and pretty much all of the lawn games I set up were untouched. I wasn't really thinking when I went all out and had about 10 options of lawn games for 5 year olds. Really they just ran around and had the best time with no entertainment needed!
It was a great birthday and Braden was really happy with his party. He did mention to me weeks afterward that he'd like his next birthday at Chuck E. Cheese. I guess we'll see in a year what happens...
