Wildlife continues 2011

So I tried for a very short time to trap the stray white cat but realized that I was going to end up capturing every other type of nocturnal animal instead.  When I saw that I'd trapped an innocent raccoon I felt really bad he looked so sad and miserable in there!  Stray cat project is over and we'll just have to hope Reilly stops marking his territory indoors.  Meanwhile I have to explain to everyone that comes over to our house why our fake trees are covered in aluminum foil and plastic bags!

We had a turtle wander into our yard near the trampoline on one of the very hot days.  He looked confused so the kids and I picked him up and took him over to the creek where he could cool off and hopefully find his way home!

One night after the kids went to bed I was on my way downstairs and was surprised by a tree frog stuck to the front door window!  Unfortunately I was not waking up the kids to show them so they had to be happy with the photo I managed to take.

No matter how many times I've put out a hummingbird feeder we don't see any hummingbirds and even though there are some flowers in our yard that are supposed to attract them they've never visited us.  That is until this year, there is a hummingbird that comes daily to our bird feeder and then feeds on the hostas that are flowering.  Its not normal hummingbird behavior but the kids really like seeing the tiny bird!

Hard to photograph a hummingbird, best I could do here!

Cedar Waxwing, a cool superhero looking bird that loves our two berry trees
