Return of Chuck

For years we have had woodchucks living underneath our deck and for a while it didn't bother me.  However, last year Bill, our neighbor, suggested he trap it and prevent any damage it might be doing to the foundation of our house!  So he trapped a woodchuck and we assumed it was our deck critter since we didn't see any woodchucks in our yard for a long time.  Then a year later I look outside and see a little guy sitting on top of the kids sandbox.  He sees me and runs under the deck.  Since then I've seen him several times in the yard and he always runs back to his holes under our deck.  So chuck is back, a little guy so its a new chuck.  I haven't had the heart to trap him yet but we'll see!

I was also surprised by a coyote a few months ago.  I had just put the kids to bed and was walking down the stairs and saw a furry animal on the front porch.  I thought it was a dog gotten loose but then when I looked closer I realized it was coyote.  I was so shocked to see it on the front porch, so close to the house.  It was following a scent so it was moving along the front hedges and then when it got toward the backyard it took off after something that I couldn't see but I figured was probably a rabbit!

Also, its no surprise we have another critter issue.  There is a stray white male cat hanging around the neighborhood.  It stalks our backyard and deck looking for food and sprays urine in the bushes.  That has gotten our indoor cat Reilly all out of sorts.  He must feel like he has to protect his territory so he's been peeing in and around the fake trees that I have indoors!  The cleanup of cat pee is probably the worst thing to cleanup ever, the smell is impossible to get out.  So I'm desperate to solve this problem and to do that I have to trap the stray cat and relocate him.  And that's where I'm at so far, trap is set and we'll see what happens...
