Braden, Addison and their friend Will were playing outside one day when they found a caterpillar which they wanted to put in the bug house. The poor bug house was carted around in all of their bikes. Then later they wanted to keep the caterpillar in our house so I said okay not thinking there would be much longevity for a caterpillar.
Addison loved it, like she does all animals, and let the caterpillar out of the bug house and I couldn't find it. This was a Thursday and I just forgot all about it until Sunday night Arthur cat was playing with something in his food bowl. When I looked it was the caterpillar and it was still alive. So I took it away from Arthur and put it back in the bug house, the kids were thrilled to have their caterpillar back. Its been over a week and the caterpillar is still alive and well in the bug house on our kitchen table. I never imagined that I'd have a kitchen centerpiece that involved a bug house with live insects and a vase with two fish. The fish are now in a vase because the official fish bowl got cracked when Braden's action figures were being thrown around the room!
